Sara, my sister-in-law, was recently interviewed for Subtraction. This site is the personal blog of Khoi Vinh, the design director for NYTimes.com. Back in June he posted about the interaction problems introduced by a new elevator system in the New York Times building. I follow the blog and upon reading this, I forwarded the post to Sara. She worked in the family business engineering elevator control systems for six years. She decided to comment on the post with a technical explanation of the design problem described. Sara was probably the only reader who knew abything about how elevators work
This is some great visibility for Sara. She’s getting her 15 minutes of online fame!! Khoi Vinh is a very well respected designer and his blog is pretty popular in the design community. My company actually has him as a featured speaker at our Managing Experience (MX) conference in Philadelphia next week.
Her new consulting firm Slick Logic was even mentioned in the article. Congrats Sara!!!
