I read about the new Y! oneSearch a week or so ago and while it sounded like a great concept, I didn’t really see the value until I used the service today. Y! oneSearch is search tuned for mobile devices. It makes assumptions based on the fact that a user is mobile and does it’s best to give results that meet those expectations.
Today, I ran a quick search for “fillmore san francisco” from my mobile while out wine tastingin Livermore, CA. The search engine could have returned a boring list of the sites/pages with the most relevancy, but that wasn’t what I needed on my phone. Instead, Y! oneSearch returned a snapshot of data about The Fillmore including address, phone number and a link to their site. That’s just what what I as looking for!
By the way, I ran this search because Adam and I are going to see Jarvis Cocker play.
