Today I went in for some minor outpatient surgery, and I’m not going to go into the details. My doctor is pretty tech savvy and during visits to his office he regularly consults a laptop on his desk to lab results, echeduling, etc.
My doctor communicates with me online using RelayHealth. It’s a site that offers a secure means to communicate online. I am unsure is there’s any competition for their service. They seem make money by charging the doctor and the patient by billing inurance. A “web visit” costs the same as an office visit, I think.
Once cool feature I just found is the e-prescriptions. My doctor was able to login, order two prescriptions for me and they were filled at the local drugstore. I recieved a notification of the order, logged into the site and see an auto-generated message. On the site I can review dosage information and read a bit about the drugs to see what they heck they do to me.
